The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita ( BNS ) 2023 Section 4 Punishments

अध्याय 2 दण्डों के विषय में 

4. दण्ड. - 

अपराधी, इस संहिता के उपबंधों के अधीन जिन दण्डों से दायी हैं, वे हैं- 

(क) मृत्यु 

(ख) आजीवन कारावास; 

(ग) कारावास, जो दो प्रकार का है, अर्थात्- (1) कठिन, अर्थात् कठोर श्रम के साथ; (2) सादा; 

(घ) सम्पत्ति की जब्ती; 

(ङ)जुर्माना; 

(च) सामुदायिक सेवा ।

CHAPTER II 

OF PUNISHMENTS 

4. Punishments.-

The which offenders punishments to are liable under the provisions of this Sanhita are- 

(a) Death; 

(b) Imprisonment for life; 

(c) Imprisonment, which is of two descriptions, namely:- (1) Rigorous, that is, with hard labour; (2) Simple; 

(d) Forfeiture of property; 

(e) Fine; 

(f) Community Service.
